- Diamonds are weighed in carats, and one carat is 100 points. A 0.20 ct stone is what the trade calls a 20 pointer.
- Colour
- The scale runs from D, with no colour at all, down to Z. F is still graded colourless and G near colourless, so FG stones look white to the eye.
- Clarity
- How clean the stone is. VVS means very, very slightly included, and VS very slightly included. Marks at these grades are small even under 10× magnification.
- Certificate
- The lab that graded the stone: the Gemological Institute of America, or HRD Antwerp in Belgium. We deal in certified stones from both.

We deal in GIA and HRD certified diamonds. Both labs let you look up a report by its number.
